Vijayawada, Apr 28: Telugu Desam Party National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu objected to Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statement asking people to be prepared to live with Coronavirus as it is going to be part of life and alleged that the government had failed in tackling effectively the spread of pandemic.

In an open letter to the people of the State here on Tuesday, the former Chief Minister came down heavily on Mr Reddy (without mentioning his name), stating “Now he (Chief Minister) is telling let us be prepared to live with Coronavirus as it is going to be part of our lives, which reflects the hollowness of the government.

Mr Naidu attributed the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in the State to the indifference attitude of the ruling YSRCP leaders.

The former Chief Minister alleged that the YSRCP leaders were roaming in groups, carried out tractor rally in Srikalahasti, welcoming with flowers for a ruling party leader at Nagari town, bringing followers from neighbouring states to AP by YSRCP MLA, holding public meeting in Kodipi were some of the incidents, which caused spreading of the pandemic and pointed out that even the National media faulted the acts of ruling party leaders.

“Corruption has taken place in even purchasing of testing kits. It is proved that the more kits we have, the more tests can be conducted to detect positive cases. But the purchase of test kits mired in corruption in AP', he alleged.

The attitude of the government is that conducting of local body election is more important than the containing the Coronavirus, he said, adding it turned the condition of the state from ‘bad to worse’.

Mr Naidu said the government had released three health bulletins previously but now it is releasing only one bulletin after the media described the health bulletin as jigger of figures.

He alleged that sub-standard PPEs were given to the doctors which caused the doctors getting infected with the diseases’. When the government’s failure was questioned, a doctor and a municipal commissioner were suspended, he said.

“I have never seen such rulers who are playing games with the lives of people. The ruling party leaders do not have interest in protecting the lives of people but they have interest only on protecting their political mileage, he lambasted.

“Some family members of a ruling party MP, 4 doctors, and some staff in Governor’s bunglow were contracted with the virus which reflects the inefficiency of the government in taking steps to tackle the spread of pandemic, Mr Naidu said.

"I feel pain at seeing the difficulties of farmers who are losing harvested crop, migrated labourers, fishermen and transport workers" he said and appealed to people to protect themselves and their localities from the Coronavirus pandemic. (UNI)
