Janata Curfew : AP Govt to suspend bus services

Vijayawada, Mar 20 : In response to the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to observe Janata Curfew to combat COVID-19, the Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday decided to suspend the RTC bus services from morning to evening on Sunday. Talking to media here, Minister for Transport Perni Venkataramaiah appealed to people to cancel their journeys. He also appealed to the private bus operators to stop their services too.

Mr Venkataramaiah said that a task force teams is being set up in each district to monitor the measures taken to contain the spread of COVID-19. District Collector would be the Convenor for the Task Force team and Superintendent of Police, DHMO, Municipal Commissioner, Railway and Airport officials would be the members, he said. The state government has decided to restrict the entry into the Secretariat in view of Coronavirus threat.

Petrol filling stations would remain closed on March 22 from 7 am to 9 pm. However, there would be two persons at the filling stations to fill fuel to the emergency vehicles, Petrol Dealer’s Federation President Gopala Krishna said. (UNI)
