Amaravati, Mar 16 : The Andhra Pradesh government filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Monday challenging the decision of the State Election Commissioner N Ramesh Kumar on Sunday who put on hold the local body election for a period of six weeks.
The Apex Court posted the hearing for Tuesday. Official sources here that the state government moved the Top Court seeking to grant stay on the postponement of local body poll and sought holding of the election as per schedule.
The government stated that Mr Ramesh Kumar had taken unconstitutional decision without consulting the government. The government also told the Supreme Court that it would have to incur a huge loss if the election was not conducted as per schedule. Supreme Court Judge Uday Lalit ordered the Court Registrar to mention the plea in Tuesday's hearing list. (UNI)
