Agency News

Chittoor, Jan 9: Police here have put prominent TDP leaders under house arrest in this Parliamentary Constituency in view of the visit of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday.

The decision to put TDP leaders under house arrest was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent obstructing of CM’s convoy by them.

Mr Reddy will launch ‘Amma Vadi’ scheme at PVKN Grounds. The TDP leaders put under house arrest are former MLA A S Manohar, MLC Dorababu, TDP district President Pulivarthi Nani and State party BC Cell General Secretary Shanmugam and police sought the cooperation of arrested leaders.

The police have taken this measure in the wake of information received that the TDP leaders will obstruct the CM’s convoy in protest against the arrest of party National President N Chandrababu Naidu at Benz Circle in Vijayawada on Wednesday. To avoid any sort of commotion by the TDP leaders, the police have beefed up the security along the entire route where the Chief Minister is scheduled to move in the town. (UNI)
