Vijayawada, Nov 29: Former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party National President N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his anguish over the gang rape and murder of veterinary doctor Priyanka Reddy in Hyderabad on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter on Friday, Mr Naidu said “Anguished to learn about the gruesome murder of a 26-year-old veterinarian in Shadnagar. My heartfelt condolences to her family. The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to justice and be given the strictest punishment. They have no right to remain in civil society, he said.
“Beyond stringent punishments and better surveillance, we must ensure that boys grow up respecting women as equals. There must be gender empowerment and sex education at every level of learning, be it at home or at school. Every individual must take initiative to lead this change”, Mr.Naidu said. Meanwhile, veterinary doctors held a demonstration, holding the images of Priyanka Reddy, in protest against the gang rape and murder at veterinary hospital here today. The veterinary lady doctors demanded stringent punishment to the perpetrators. (UNI)
