Amaravati Nov 18 : Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education Adimulapu Suresh said that 68,000 teachers would be imparted training to teach in English Medium and all obstacles in implementing it in all government schools would be overcome.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr Suresh said that out of 1.68 lakh teachers, 68,000 teachers would be imparted training in teaching English medium students. He informed that the government would sign MoUs with some institutions, including Regional Institution of English to train the teachers.
The Minister made it clear “Within five months, we will keep ready teaching material and set up training institutions. The district level training centres will be strengthened”, he said. “Introducing English medium in all government schools is a challenging task but we will overcome it”, the Minister opined.
He said the government has to overcome several challenges due to the new education policy and it is ready to face them. Teachers have to upgrade their language skills, a new curriculum has to be evolved and infrastructure has to be developed in the government schools, the Minister explained.
Mr Suresh regretted that a section of the media was making misleading campaign that the government is introducing English medium in all government schools only to encourage religious conversions. Over two lakh students from the state go abroad every year and they all have proficiency in English. He asked if that also amounted to religious conversion.
'The world has been turning into a global village and under these circumstances it is important for all the students to acquire modern technical knowledge to get good opportunities abroad, the Minister said. (UNI)
