Amaravati, Nov 14: Senior IAS officer Nilam Sawhney has been appointed as new Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh.
Ms Sawhney will replace Neerabh Kumar Prasad, who was given additional charge, as the Chief Secretary earlier after the transfer of the then Chief Secretary L V Subramanyam. Significantly, Ms Sawhney is the first woman Chief Secretary of the newly formed State of Andhra Pradesh after its bifurcation.
An order was issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Wednesday night appointing her as new Chief Secretary of AP.
Ms Sawhney was a 1984 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, appointed to the top post.
She was earlier serving as the Secretary of the department of Social Justice and Empowerment in New Delhi. (UNI)
