AP CM launches ‘YSR Vahana Mitra’ scheme

Eluru, Oct 4: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the 'YSR Vahana Mitra' scheme here on Friday.

Under the scheme, Rs 10,000 will be distributed annually to autorickshaw, taxi and maxi drivers who own vehicles. The financial assistance help them to pay their vehicle insurance, road tax, for minor repairs and other recurring expenses incurred.

Reddy said Rs 10,000 would be given every year and the amount would be credited into their bank accounts directly and the processing was done in a transparent manner.

It was during his 3,648-km padayatra, the promise to this effect was made at this very same place where he had announced that when his government comes to power, Rs 10,000 would be given to self-employed drivers of auto, taxis and maxi cabs every year.

The financial assistance was given to 1,73, 531 drivers with the click of a button and the amount directly credited into their respective bank accounts, he said.

Reddy had earlier posed with auto drivers and worn the khaki shirt, the uniform of auto driver, and he was with it throughout the function.

He reminded time and again the services rendered by Village and Ward Volunteers in getting the data and putting the work in place along with the Transport Department officials and staff.

Deputy Chief Ministers Pilli Subhashchandra Bose, Ministers Alla Nani, Perni Nani, T Vanita were among those who are present. (UNI)
