Tirumala, Sep 30 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy made the customary and official presentation of a pair of ‘silk vastrams’ to the temple of Lord Venkateswara on behalf of the State government in connection with the annual brahmotsavams which got off to a spectacular start on Monday evening.
His official presentation is part of the grand inauguration of the nine-day holy event of Brahmotsavams of temple of Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala-Tirupati. Jagan presented the silk vastrams first time Lord Venkateswara in his capacity as CM of AP.
Earlier, the Chief Minister was adorned with traditional headgear by temple archaka at Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple. From there he carried the silk vastrams in a plate over his head amidst the chanting of veda mantras with the accompaniment of Nadaswaram and Melam to main temple.
Later, he offered silk vastrams to the presiding deity inside temple and offered prayers to Sri Venkateswara Swamy. The vastrams will be adorned to the deity on the auspicious Garuda seva day which falls on October 4. At Ranganayakula Mandapam, he was rendered Vedasirvachanam by temple priests.
The CM later offered 80kilos 400grams of rice as Tulabharam and fulfilled his wish and also took part in Peddasesha Vahanam procession.
TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy, Executive Officer Sri Anil Kumar Singhal, Additional Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy, Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Gopinath Jatti, District Collector Narayana Bharat Gupta, Tirupati Urban SP, Anburajan and other officers were also present.
Apart from the officers, the other important persons who were present included MPs -- Mithun Reddy, Reddeppa, Deputy Chief Minister Narayana Swamy, Minister P Ramachandra Reddy, former TTD Chairman and local MLA B Karunakar Reddy, TTD Trust Board members, special invitees and others were also present.
