Vijayawada, Aug 5 : Leader of the Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced the support of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the revocation of Article 370 of the Constitution.
Taking to Micro-Blogging Twitter on Monday, Mr Naidu said 'Telugu Desam Party supports the Union Government as it seeks to repeal Article 370. I pray for the peace and prosperity of the people of J&K”. Naidu’s MLC son Nara Lokesh also extended support to the abrogation of Article 370.
Taking to twitter, Lokesh said, “I welcome the decision of the Union Government to scrap Article 370. I hope that the people of J&K witness peace and development.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Unit of CPI opposed the Centre’s move of scrapping Article 370. In a statement here, CPI Secretary Rama Krishna slammed the Centre that it had taken a unilateral decision to scrap Article 370.
The abrogation of Article 370 caused escalation of tension and insecurity in J&K, he said. It is not proper to the Centre to detain J&K leaders in their houses in Srinagar before announcing the scraping of Article 370, he criticised. The CPI (M) activists held a protest dharna in Bandar road against the scraping of Article 370.(UNI)
