Amaravati, July 26 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy said that MLAs would be appointed as Chairman of Agriculture Market Committees (AMCs) to understand the problems of farmers.
Intervening in the debate on the Market Bill 2019 in the Assembly on Friday, he said that the local MLA should understand the problems of farmers. In view of this, it has been decided to appoint MLAs as Chairman of AMCs, he said. The MLAs would also be able to resolve the problems of farmers in the new system, he said.
The Chief Minister said that the government will set up price stabilization fund with a corpus fund of Rs 3,000 crore. If the farmers do not get Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce, the MLA could bring the same to the notice of Chief Minister, he informed.
After a thorough debate on the issue, the Marketing Bill 2019 was passed by the house.(UNI)
