Amaravati, June 22: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday directed engineering experts committee to ensure that no irregularities take place in the construction of Polavaram project and bring transparency in tendering system.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting with engineering experts and officials at his camp office at Tadepalli, near here.
Mr Reddy said that he would not tolerate corruption in project works.
He asked the officials to identify the areas to opt for reverse tendering to save money to exchequer. Mr Reddy further said that he was ready to felicitate such officials who identify the areas to cut cost of project works.
The Chief Minister said that he has urged for judicial commission to bring transparency in tendering system. Citing the reports published in a Telugu daily, the Chief Minister said that several irregularities took place in Polavaram project works.
The Chief Minister said that the erstwhile Chandrababu Naidu-led government failed to follow the rules. He said the previous government has taken up the construction of coffer dam without completing spill way. As a result if Godavari receives heavy flood water during the present rainy season, the project works could not be carried out for a period of 4 months, the CM added. (UNI)
