Vijayawada, May 17 : Police arrested four inter-state burglars and seozed 1,259 grams of gold jewellery, 17.2 KG silver ornaments and Rs.6.65 lakh cash from their possession.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Commissioner of police Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said that the police team on a tip off, conducted checking of vehicles at Kandrika on the outskirts of the city and noticed the four accused, including a minor boy, moving suspiciously in two cars.
They were arrested and during interrogation they confessed that they committed several crimes including at Atkuru, Gannavaram, SN puram and Krishnalanka police station limits in Krishna district and at various places in Guntur, West Godavari and East Godavari districts. They committed about 200 crimes in the state, Mr Rao added.
The modus operandi of their offences were that they identify locked houses during day time and commit burglaries during night times. The names of the burglars were given as Bhukya Nagaraju, P Umamaheswara Rao, Banavath Raja and a 16-year-old juvenile.
Police also seized two cars and a lap top from the accused.
The Commissioner appreciated CCS Inspector B Balamurali Krishna and SI C H Naga Srinivas for arresting the notorious burglary gang. (UNI)
