Amaravati, May 16: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu found fault with the Election Commission of India (ECI) for taking action on the complaint by BJP National President Amit Shah on the poll violence in West Bengal.Naidu tweeted on Thursday that "It is disturbing to see prompt action by the ECI on the complaint of BJP and Mr Shah in West Bengal, while conveniently ignoring the complaints of Trinamool Congress'.

He said, “It's more disturbing to see conspicuous inaction of the ECI on the complaint of 22 Opposition parties to validate EVM counting with counting of at least 50 per cent VVPAT slips in each assembly constituency.”“Giving a number of clean chits to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking prompt action though not justified on the false complaints of BJP and its friends, wilful inaction on the genuine Complaints made by the opposition parties clearly raises doubts over the neutrality, impartiality, and fairness of the Election Commission of India.

“It is high time that the ECI acted on complaints made by the Opposition parties too and restored its credibility besides fulfilling it's constitutional mandate of conducting free and fair elections,” he said.It was not only the institutional integrity of the ECI that was at stake but also the integrity of the democratic process of elections that was at stake, Naidu said.
