Tirumala, May 3: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal on Friday reiterated that the 1381 kilos of Gold deposited with Punjab National Bank (PNB) by TTD is safe in its coffer as it had returned the same after the period is over.

Brushing aside the controversies making rounds in a section of media and in social media over the safety of TTD gold, Mr Singhal once again clarified over the safety of TTD gold at Annamaiah Bhavan here and urged the devotees not to believe the false propaganda which were intentionally created by some vested elements while some unintentionally.

"I had already cleared during a press conference on April 23 in Tirupati stating that the PNB has given the transportation of gold to an agency, he said that as per the MoU between these two, the agency has to handover the gold safely to the PNB branch at Tirupati.

In spite of the valid documents shown by the agency, the election officials in Tamil Nadu seized the gold in view of election code prevailed in Tamil Nadu during that time. Later, the Tiruvallur Collector has given clean chit on this issue after a thorough inquiry. The PNB, Tirupati branch had later handed over the gold to TTD.

Appealing to devotees not to believe in the false propaganda, he said TTD gold is safe with it. We have been spending the offerings made by devotees in hundi and to the TTD-run trusts as per the prescribed guidelines. The remaining amount we are depositing in banks", he asserted. UNI
