Vijayawada, Apr 11: About 77 per cent of polling was registered in 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha Constituencies in Andhra Pradesh which ended at 6 pm on Thursday
According official sources, 77 per cent voter turnout was registered till 6 pm but the percentage is likely to go up as large number of voters are still in queues to cast their votes after polling came to a close.
The polling ended at 4 pm in Maoist infested constituencies like Araku, Rampachodavaram and Paderu in Visakhapatnam district.
Chief Electoral officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi said the voters who stood in queues would be allowed to cast their vote even after 6 pm.
Violence incidents took place in Anatapur, Kurnool and Guntur districts in which one person was killed in Tadipatri in Anantapur district.
As many as 2,118 candidates are in fray and trying their luck in 175 Assembly constituencies and 319 candidates contested for 25 Lok Sabha constituencies. There are over 3.93 crore voters.
Mr.Dwivedi said that 381 EVMs developed some technical problems in the morning and they were rectified. All EVMs functioned without any further problem, he added.
