Vijayawada, Apr 1: In a bid to highlight the atrocities and violence against women and dispel the wrong notion on transgender people, a 34-year-old transgender is contesting from Mangalagiri Assembly constituency.
The transgender Tamanna Simhadri said that she is contesting with an objective of highlighting the increasing atrocities, violence against women and register a protest during her campaign. The transgender said that she is contesting to the Assembly by aiming to bring a change in society and allay the wrong notion about the transgender people.
“The transgender people are part of the society and people should stop treating them differently. I am getting good response from women when I am campaigning in the localities” she claimed.
She is the only transgender contesting in the April 11 election in the state. It may be mentioned that the Mangalagiri Assembly constituency is attracting the attention of state as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Minister son N Lokesh is in the fray. (UNI)
