Tirupati, Mar 24: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Joint Executive Officer B Lakshmi Kantham on Sunday said Ayurveda was an ancient Indian science derived from the Atharwana Veda for the well being of mankind.
Addressing the 36th anniversary of the TTD-run SV Ayurveda Medical College hospital here, Mr Lakshmi Kantham said Ayurveda medicine had gained popularity and devoid of any side effects should be extensively publicised.
He said another OP block will be set up in the College hospital in view of its popularity and a new compound wall and arch will be added. Assuring students of good employment opportunities in all regions, he urged them to focus on studies.
The JEO said TTD was striving to procure ISI recognition for hospital as it has excelled in providing treatment in all wings of Ayurveda medicine. Earlier , the college principal Dr A Shankarbabu in its annual report said that so far 30 batches of students had completed their courses and were employed in private and government hospitals across the country.
Presently 255 students including 38 girl students were accommodated in the TTD hostels. Graduates from the institute had excelled in research work and teaching bodies not only in India but also overseas, he said.
Presenting annual report, Dr V Parvati Devi, Superintendent of SV Ayurveda Medical college hospital said about 1.40 lakh patients were treated besides 3286 in-patients in 2018-19, who came from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other states.UNI
