Kadapa, Mar 17: YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy released all the 175 names of the candidates to contest to Assembly election and 25 names of the candidates to contest to Lok Sabha polls at Idupulapaya in the district on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the YSRCP had given 41 seats to BCs, five seats to the minority community. He said that he had given importance to all communities in giving tickets. Reddy said that tickets were given on the basis of survey reports and public opinions on the winnable chances of candidates.
As per the list released, Jagan Mohan Reddy is contesting in his home constituency Pulivendual in Kadapa district. The YSRCP has fielded K Chandramouli in Kuppam constituency against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Interestingly, the YSRCP has given ticket to Daggubati Venkateswara Rao to contest from Purchur Assembly constituency in Prakasham District.
Mr Venkateswara Rao is the son-in-law of Telugu Desam party founder and former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao.
The YSRCP fielded retired police officer K Iqbal Ahmed Khan in Hindupur Assembly constituency to contest against film actor turned politician N Balakrishna, who is the brother-in-law of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Mr Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, the sitting YSRCP MLA from Mangalagiri constituency in Guntur district, is to face Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s minister son Nara Lokesh.
The YSRCP has given ticket to Malladi Vishnu to contest from Vijayawada (Central) Assembly constituency, Vallampalli Srinivas from Vijayawada (West) and Boppana Bhav Kumar from Vijayawada (East) Assembly constituency.
Congress leader Dronamraju Srinivas, who joined the YSRCP in the last minute, was given ticket to contest from Visakhapatnam (South) constituency. 'As many as 43 sitting MLAs were given tickets by the YSRCP leadership', YSRCP leaders told media.
Moreover, the YSRCP president also released the names of 25 candidates to contest to Lok Sabha.
Some leaders, who joined the YSRCP after quitting the TDP during the last couple of months were also given tickets. YSRCP senior leaders including MP V Vijay Sai Reddy, Dharmana Prasad Rao, C Ramachandraiah and YSRCP political strategist Prashant Kishore were present. (UNI)
