Former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy passes away

Kadapa Mar 15 : Former minister YS Vivekanada Reddy died of cardiac arrest in Pulivendula in Kadapa district on Friday.

He was 68 and is survived by wife Soubagya and daughter Sunita.

According to the YSRCP sources, he participated in election campaign till 2030 hrs last night along with MLA Raghurami Reddy. He developed vomiting in the wee hours and later collapsed.

He was alone at his house when he suffered cardiac arrested, family members said.

Mr Vivekananda Reddy was elected to Assembly in 1989 and 1994 from Pulivendunal constituency and to Lok Sabha from Kadapa Parliamentary constituency in 1999 and 2004. He worked as minister for Agriculture in the combined AP state in 2010.

Mr Vivekananda Reddy was the younger brother of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and paternal uncle to Leader of the Opposition and YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

After receiving the news of his death, family members including Jagan Reddy, his mother Y S Vijaya Lakshmi and large number of close relatives and senior leaders left for Pulivendula.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam party national president N Chandrababu Naidu, his minister son Nara Lokesh expressed grief over his death and conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members. (UNI)
