AP CM, son illegally give citizens’ personal data to Private IT firm: TRS

Agency News

Hyderabad, Mar 5: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his son and IT Minister Lokesh committed a crime by illegally providing citizens’ personal date to a private firm, TRS working President and former IT Minister K T Rama Rao said here on Monday.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Rao said the private information, including Aadhar details of AP citizens, was provided to a private firm – IT Grids, which gives tech support to the Telugu Desam Party(TDP) app 'Sevamitra'.

Both Mr Naidu and Mr Lokesh used the information to influence the AP voters, he alleged. Once their data theft came to light after a whistleblower lodged a complaint against the concerned firm, the father-son duo, in order to protect themselves, started blaming the Telangana government, he also alleged.

In an attempt to push the blame on to the Telangana government, he said the TDP even tried to trend the hashtag #TSGovtStealsData.

When the hashtag was examined, it was learned that the same was being used by random people, who were not from Andhra Pradesh, nor have any connection with the state, the former Minister stated.

A large number of the handles belong to people from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and various other states. It is surprising to see non-Telugu people tweeting in Telugu language on their handles, he added. After reading some more tweets with the same hashtag, it was understood that a private firm was hired to post tweets with the hashtag #TSGovtSteals Data. The firm has used its multiple fake accounts to tweet using the hashtag.

Handles on the name of Ria, a model from Mumbai, Santhosh Shukla an anchor, and Bollywood Chowk, a handle from Gurugram, have tweeted in support of Mr Naidu, he alleged. Surprisingly, all the Twitter accounts have posted the same message in their tweets, he pointed out.

These handles are owned by people, who tweet for money. Mr Naidu and his son, in order to cover up their mistake, committed another mistake of paying money for tweets to show Telangana Government in poor light. They are now being criticized for ‘Cash for tweet’ scam, he added.

Both Mr Naidu and Mr Lokesh have become a laughing stock in front of the country, for trying to trend hashtag against Telangana government by sponsoring the campaign, he alleged. UNI
