Rajnath inaugurates NIA office cum housing complexes

Hyderabad, Mar 1: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Hyderabad and Guwahati offices of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at a function in Madhapur area of the city on Friday.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan and state Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali were among the dignitaries who attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Singh called for complete eradication of terrorism in the country and condemned the recent Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a tough stand to eliminate terrorism and towards this the air strikes on terror camps in Pakistan were initiated.

Mr Singh said that the whole world supported India's action against terrorism. The Minister called upon the NIA officials to enhance the conviction rate from the present 92 to 100 per cent.

It may be mentioned that NIA which began its operations in 2009 functions as the central counter terrorism law enforcement agency in the country.UNI
