Guntur, Jan 18 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party National President N Chandrababu Naidu unveiled a 36-feet tall statue of TDP founder and former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao at Sattenapalli on the occasion of his 23rd death anniversary on Friday.
Later the Chief Minister, along with Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao had a boat ride in the NTR Sagar tank. He also inaugurated the Tarakarama Sagar, developed at a cost of Rs.10 crore.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, the Chief Minister announced the enhancement of the NTR Vaidya Seva Health Scheme Limit from Rs.2.50 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh. He listed out various schemes being implemented by the government.
Mr Naidu reminded that the statue of Buddha was installed in the Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad when N T Rama Rao was the Chief Minister and NTR statue was installed in NTR sagar at Sattenapalli today. He described NTR as a great statesman.
Explaining people why he aligned with the BJP before 2014 election, he said that he joined hands with the saffron party anticipating Central government’s help for the progress of the state. However, the BJP betrayed the state, he said.
Despite the Central government is not cooperating, the state is completing the construction of Polavaram project, across the river Godavari.
The Chief Minister demanded the Narendra Modi headed NDA government to accord Special Category Status (SCS) to AP.
He said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Kadapa and asked how he is visiting AP without granting SCS. (UNI)
