Amaravati, June 4 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu flagged off 30 Swift dezire cars, distributed to unemployed Brahmin youth by AP Brahmin Corporation, at his residence, here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that for the first time in the country, AP Brahmin Corporation was set up in the state in December 2014 and a total budget of Rs.285 crore was allotted in five years. He said that the Corporation had designed schemes to help poor Brahmins of all age groups by providing financial assistance towards education, coaching, skill development, entrepreneurship and welfare and culture.
Mr Naidu said the Corporation had spent Rs.137.2 Crore towards education, including Rs.20.20 crore for overseas education of 211 students. He said the Brahmin corporation had spent Rs.1.6 crore towards skill development of unemployed Brahmin youth, Rs.21.12 crore towards entrepreneurship and Rs.41.34 crore towards implementation of welfare programmes.
The Chief Minister said AP Brahmin Cooperative Credit Society extended loans to a tune of Rs.23 crore to 10,000 beneficiaries.
He said the credit society had spent Rs.2.2 crore with Rs.60 lakh as subsidy and distributed cars to 30 beneficiaries today.
AP Brahmin Corporation Chairman Vemuri Ananda Surya was among those who was present at the programme. (UNI)
