Tirupati, Nov 3 : To keep the environs healthy for future generations, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to observe a ban on plastic usage after November 10, Tirumala Joint Executive Officer KS Sreenivasa Raju said on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons here, Raju said, on the request of shop owners, the ban date has been extended from November 1.Once, we get the approval from Executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal we will implement the ban on plastic usage in Tirumala, he said.
However, in Tirupati, from October 2, the plastic ban is successfully and strictly implemented to make the city healthy. In a similar way, we want to implement the same in Tirumala, he added.
In view of its global reputation, if the plastic ban is implemented in the hill town, the message will spread to a wider reach and it will have more impact on pilgrims. Once the plastic ban is implemented in Tirumala, we will appeal to the pilgrims to follow it, he maintained. (UNI)
