Police-leftleaders clash at Rangampet

Tirupati, Sep 4 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time, amidst high drama, at Rangampet of Chandragiri Mandal on Tuesday as the police prevented the entry of CPI and CPI (M) leaders into Naravaripalli village when they tried to visit health center located there.

The police, after knowing the left leaders programme, barricaded the way at Rangampet leading to Naravaripalli even one hour before the communist leaders reached the place.

CPI Andhra Pradesh Unit secretary and former MLA K Ramakrishna , Chittoor district Secretary Ramanaidu and CPI (M) State Secretariat member and former MLA M Gafoor, District Secretary Pullaiah and other communist leaders reached Naravaripalli to visit and to look over the facilities provided there.

The big contingent of police including armed personnel prevented ‘red’ leaders from entering into the village at Rangampet which caused to develop argument between police and leaders which touched high at one moment resulting panic being created among the public for some time. The police over enthusiastically behaved and also obstructed the media persons’ entry into the village who gathered there to give coverage. (UNI)
