Port Blair, Apr 28 : After reports of recent surge in COVID19 positive cases, Andaman and Nicobar Islands today woke up to a good news that four more Active COVID19 patients have been tested negative. As of today total COVID19 positive cases are 33 in Andaman, out of which 15 patients have now been tested negative leaving only 18 COVID19 active cases. Eleven patients were tested negative before April 16 and today 4 more have been tested negative.
“While active cases drop to 18 from 22 in Andamans. No let up in our vigil and caution. Long tough road ahead,” the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration Chetan Sanghi informed Islanders via a tweet. The Chief Secretary earlier on Monday also said that over 7,100 Coronavirus tests per million population are being conducted in the Union Territory. He added that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are chasing COVID-19.
Earlier, the Chief Secretary had tweeted that there are sufficient supplies, medicines, equipment on the islands and added that the highest contact tracing, testing, and quarantine was being done. According to official figures altogether 3097 samples were sent for testing in ICMR Port Blair out of which 2752 result came and nearly 345 test reports are pending. Not only this, 707 people are put under Home Quarantine while 740 people are kept in institutional quarantine. (UNI)
