Port Blair, Mar 26 : A person today tested COVID-19 positive in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands after arriving from Chennai.
Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration Chetan Sanghi, spearheading the fight against Corona in Andaman, today informed Islanders about this over the social media app, twitter.
“One Islander has been tested positive. He returned by flight on 24th from Chennai, Vistara. Follow up action as per protocol underway,” the Chief Secretary Twitted.
Meanwhile, a large number of people has been kept under quarantine in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. As per the latest update provided by Dr. Abhijit Roy, Nodal Officer,COVID-19, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, there are around 1455 people under quarantine. “Out of this 1455,75 who have travelled to Andaman from International borders and people who are highly suspected to be having COVID-19 havebeen kept in circuit houses,” Dr. Abhijit said.
Highly placed sources told UNI that after detection of one positive case in Andaman, now authorities are tracing out people with whom this Corona Patient has contacted while coming to Andamans. UNI
