Andaman and Nicobar Islands begins transport of EVMs for remote and isolated Islands

Port Blair, Apr 04: Considering remoteness and transportation
hurdles, the authorities in Andaman and Nicobar Islands have already
started transportation of polling materials and Electronic Voting
Machines (EVMs) to various far-flung islands of this Union Territory.
As part of preparations for the General Election-2019, polling
materials were transported by ships to different outstations viz,
Campbell-bay, Nancowrie, Carnicobar and Little Andaman on Wednesday to
ensure that the polling materials reach at these stations well in
advance.
The polling materials and EVMs transported in advance will be stored
in the Strong Rooms identified in the respective Tehsils from where
the materials shall be distributed to the polling parties as per the
schedule for each Tehsil, before the poll day.
The polling materials and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) meant for
N&M Andaman District was transported by ship today.
Talking to UNI the Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary
Constituency, Mr Udit Prakash Rai today said that police team, CPMF
a team, ECIL engineers and polling parties are accompanying these
polling materials and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the
movement is being tracked by GPS. (UNI)
