Children, no matter what field we want to succeed in, we need tireless enthusiasm. No matter what obstacles we face, we have to persevere. We have to keep trying with constant enthusiasm and self-confidence. Someone who is always enthusiastic will always succeed.
A toddler falls so many times. But he always quickly gets up and tries to walk again. No matter how many times he stumbles and falls, he always gets up. Even if gets bruised or hurt, he will continue to try. And it is as a result of his unflagging effort, enthusiasm and patience that he learns to walk. When facing obstacles, we should persist with this same childlike mindset without feeling crushed.
Once, a herd of goats saw there was a vast vineyard on a mountaintop. All the goat kids became incredibly excited. They could think of nothing but dashing up the mountain to eat the grapes! They all started climbing as fast as they could. Seeing this, the older goats said, “Hey, where are you going? That vineyard is up so high! You’ll never be able to get up there.” Hearing these words, they began losing their enthusiasm. Soon they became tired and, one by one, started climbing back down. In the end, only one goat kid remained. It just kept climbing. All the goats and goat kids below tried their best to get that lone goat kid to come back, but none of them could dampen his enthusiasm. Eventually, he reached the mountaintop and ate grapes to his heart’s content. When he came back down, all his friends clapped and received him with much fanfare. Watching all this, one goat asked, “Amazing! How were you able to do it when no one else could?” The goat kid didn’t respond. Then his mother said, “My kid is deaf.”
In fact, the goat kid’s deafness turned into a blessing. He was able to remain enthusiastic despite being surrounded by criticism.
We all have this same power to prevail within us. Unfortunately, most of us collapse in the face of negativity and never recognise this wondrous inner strength. We should be alert and make sure that we always retain focus upon our life’s goal. If there is goal awareness and constant effort, we will be able to achieve seemingly impossible feats.
