 Mar 13, 2018

Giving a platform for the Opposition parties to join hands together, UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi will host a dinner on Tuesday in which 17 Opposition parties are likely to be attended. It is learned that a broader anti-BJP front will likely to emerge from the dinner party.

The dinner being hosted at the 10, Janpath residence of Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday evening will most probably set the tone of opposition unity against the BJP-led NDA ahead of the 2019 general elections. Andhra Pradesh's Telugu Desam Party, Biju Janta Dal and the Telangana's TRS have not been invited.Ram Gopal Yadav will represent Samajwadi Party. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, Bahujan Samajwadi Party Mayawati, and National Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar have declined to attend the dinner party.

Babulal Marandi of Jharkhand Vikas Morch and Hemant Soren of JMM have confirmed their attendance. Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Babulal Marandi will also attend. Chances are high of Lalu's son Tejaswi's presence in the dinner. For Trinamool Congress, its leader Sudip Bandyopadhyaya attending, while for DMK, Kanimozhi will attend. CPI's D. Raja and CPI(M)'s Sitaram Yechuri are top in the list of attendees. The leaders of other parties like JD-S, Kerala Congress, Indian Union Muslim League, Revolutionary Socialist Party and RLD are also on the list of invitees. Though invited, BSP leader Mayawati won't attend this time.

Sonia Gandhi has called for opposition unit and said parties should set aside their minor differences to get together.
