Counterfeit note:Police intensify investigation

As Kerala Police intensified investigation into the case involving printing of fake currency notes by a Bharathiya Yuva Morcha activist at Kodungalloor, the BJP leadership suspended the accused from the primary membership of the party.

Rakesh, aged 31,was arrested from his residence at Mathilakam in Kodungalloor. His brother Rajeev ,also an BJP activist ,is absconding. A case has been registered against the two brothers for printing fake currency Their house was raided and fake currency to the tune of Rs 1.37 lakh was sized along with printing machines.

The brothers have been engaged in money lending to people in the locality. It is doubted that the fake notes were used for money lending. Rakesh admitted that he had got printed fake currency with a colour printer he had purchased recently. The notes printed were used to get petrol, provision and lottery tickets, he added.

Rakesh, with computer training, was working in Gulf until a few years back. He was jobless ever since he returned from Gulf. He was also involved in a visa racket case earlier.

Even as BJP placed Rakesh under suspension, Congress and CPM leaders have called for a detailed investigation into the case.
