Women’s World Cup: Mithali Raj determined to win the cup

In the Women’s World Cup beginning today, India will be facing hosts England at Derby on Saturday. Srilanka will meet New Zealand at Bristol on the same day. In the eight nation tournament, West Indies, Pakistan, South Africa and Australia are all waiting in the wings.

Reigning champion Australia will be the team to look out for as they play to defend their title in the 11th edition of the Women’s World Cup. They are led by Meg Lanning, excellent with the bat, who will play to earn the champions status for the seventh time. Lanning is the only player to have hit 10 centuries in women’s ODIs.

29 year old Indian skipper, Mithali Raj is brimming with confidence to win the championship. She is well aware that she may not be in the team next year and is determined to lead her team to victory.
