In the Australian Super Series at Sydney, K. Srikanth fresh from his Indonesian Open win, continued his excellent form to win against world No.1, South Korea’s Sun Wan Ho 15-21,21-13,21-13. He had earlier humbled China’s Taipei Kan Chao Yu.

Title holder Saina Nehwal moved into the next round by defeating tough opponent Sung Ji Hyun of Korea. P.V. Sindhu  won against  Japan’s Sayaka Sato the Indonesian Super Series Premier champion. Singapore Open champion Sai Praneeth also entered the second round but it was end of the road for four other singles players H.S.Prannoy, Ajay Jayaram,P.Kashyap and Siril Verma. Sai Praneeth fought well to beat Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto 10-21, 21-12,21-10. He now faces China’s Huang Yuxiang.

Defending champion Saina Nehwal started her campaign with elan by defeating fourth seed Sung Ji Hyun. She steam rolled her Korean rival 21-10, 21-16 in the first round of the women’s singles. With this victory she improved her head to head record to 7-2 against Hyun. “It is a brilliant win by Saina and it is a much needed confidence booster for her…..” said her coach Vimal Kumar. Sania will now take on Malaysia’s Sonila Cheah. It will be their first meeting on the circuit.

P.V.Sindhu overcame Japan’s Sayaka Sato to post a thrilling win 21-17, 14-21, 21-18.
