IPL spot fixing: Apex court asks Delhi HC to decide appeal against Sreesanth's discharge by July end

 May 16, 2018

The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Delhi HC to decide by July end an appeal against the former Indian cricketer Sreesanth's discharge in the 2013 IPL spot fixing case.

Headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud, the bench set the deadline on an appeal filed by Sreesanth.

Committee of Administrators of the Board of Control for Cricket in India had earlier declined to grant permission to Sreesanth to play in domestic tournaments on the ground that he had allegedly breached the code of conduct for cricketers.

Appearing for Sreesanth, senior advocate Salman Khurshid pleaded with the bench to permit the cricketer to play abroad. But the apex court ruled,'Let the Delhi HC decide the appeal against his acquittal.'

Sreesanth had moved the Supreme Court challenging the order of lifetime ban on him. (UNI)
