Rupee falls to 68.07 against US$

The Indian rupee fell to the lowest against US dollar since January 2017 on Tuesday.  On Monday it had closed at 67.51. The volatile trade made the rupee fell by 56 paise.

The increase in the price of crude also led to the pressure on the rupee. Brent crude futures rose to as much as 78.62 per barrel touching a three and half year high.

The rupee fall is also due to outflows from Indian capital markets.  This month alone foreign portfolio investors have sold net 1.6 billion in debt and 650 million in equity according to IFA Global.
