Karnataka Assembly election result a lesson to AP CM: BJP

 May 15, 2018

Expressing happiness over the Karnataka Assembly election result, BJP leaders said it is a lesson to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as he tried is best to defeat the party in the hustings.

BJP MLC and State Election Committee convener Somu Verraju talking to media on Tuesday, said that the election result is a vindication of BJP's development concept. The people of Karnataka had understood that the BJP is working hard for the development of the country and to contain corruption, he claimed.

He predicted that the same results would come out in Andhra Pradesh in 2019 election and people would defeat the TDP. Mr Naidu tried to get the BJP defeated in Karnataka and the election result should be a lesson to him, he said.

BJP MP Gokaraju Ganga Raju said the party's commitment to develop the country in all fields and steps taken to contain corruption paved way for the victory in Karnataka.

He reminded that Mr Naidu sent State Government Employees Union President to Karnataka to campaign against the BJP, which was refused by the people, the MP said.

Former Union Minister U Krishnam Raju said the BJP's election victory in Karnataka erased the misconception that the BJP is a North Indian party. The results clearly indicated that the Telugu voters in Karnataka voted for the BJP. The TDP carried out mischievous attempts to defeat the BJP in Karnataka, he alleged.

Meanwhile, the TDP leaders described the BJP's victory as technical one. I&PR minister Kalva Srinivasulu said that there is no significance in the BJP winning the election. He cited that though the BJP won more number of seats, its voting percentage was less than the Congress. He felt that the non-BJP parties in Karnataka failed to transform the anti-BJP wave into votes.

Minister for Agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy flayed that the BJP's victory is not a natural one.

Citing the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) report, the Minister alleged that the BJP had spent Rs.10,500 crore to win the Assembly election in Karnataka. The BJP did in Karnataka what it had done in Tripura, he alleged.

Reddy pointed out that the voters did not give a clear majority to BJP to form government. Earlier, the BJP leaders celebrated the election victory at the party state office in Suryaraopet here. (UNI)
