Setback for Siddaramaiah

Setback for Siddaramaiah

 May 15, 2018

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has lost Chamundeshwari seat. In Chamundeshwari, from the beginning of the counting itself, he was trailing over his nearest rival JD(S) candidate GT Devegowda. At one stage, he was trailing by 6,000 votes.

The election result itself was a setback for Siddaramaiah as he was overconfident about the victory of Congress in  Karnataka. But the BJP's emergence as the single largest party in Karnataka was a total surprise.

In Badami seat, Siddaramaiah has won for a thin margin over his nearest rival BJP’s Sriramulu.  But the only solace for Siddaramaiah is his son's victory in Varuna constituency. Yathindra won in Varuna with a good margin.
