Rupee down by 35 paisa against USD

The Rupee plunged on Wednesday by 35 paisa to 67.42 in opening trade on rising demand for US dollars by bankers and importers, amid sustained foreign capital outflows, Forex dealer said.

Strong dollar against major global currencies overseas as crude oil prices rallied and pushed Treasury yields higher after US President Donald Trump pulled out from the international nuclear deal with Iran, they added. It registered a intra day's high and low at 67.43 and 67.29 respectively, they added.

Yesterday, the rupee gained six paise to 67.07 against the US currency on suspected RBI intervention and stray dollar demand. (UNI)
